A Fresh Beginning
This amazing fruit juice stall actually started way back in 1926! Julius Freed, a budding entrepreneur, focused on something he really loves – oranges. Starting off with a simple juice stand in LA, California, the juice stand enjoyed a modest yet stable income. 3 years later, Julius’ friend and real estate broker, Bill Hamlin, wanted to help Julius out. Except, he had one problem – his stomach couldn’t handle the oranges’ acidic reaction!
By combining several key ingredients and concocting a blend mixed with oranges, the broker let Julius taste his creation. Julius saw the potential of this drink and decided to sell it in his store. Little did they know, the stall started picking up on sales, with it having to deal with a long line of customers who want to taste the frothy and tasty drink!
With the amazing demand came excellent growth as well. More Orange Julius stalls started popping up across the country, with all enjoying an amazing following. Come 1967, International Industries (known to own the popular International House of Pancakes restaurant chain), bought the Orange Julius brand. Further expansion happened, with stores opening up on a global scale!
1987 was another amazing revelation for the brand – Dairy Queen bought the Orange Julius company! As such, Orange Julius stores continue to flourish, while also being made available in many DQ stores worldwide!
