Friendly’s is a restaurant company that started on the East Coast of the United States of America. It was founded by two brothers S. Prestley Blake and Curtis Blake in 1935 at their humble abode in Springfield, Massachusetts. Right now, Friendly’s is employing more than 10,000 people.
These employees are working spread among 380 branches around the US including in the following states – Virginia, Vermont, South Carolina, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, New York, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Florida, Delaware, and Connecticut.
It was founded during the progression of the Great Depression in the US. The two brothers started by selling ice creams in a small shop that they named Friendly. Back then, they were selling double-dip cones at the amount of 5 cents each. At the end of WWII, they restarted the company and opened 10 branches. By 1974, the success aimed high until they already opened over 500 branches. The big bulk of orders made them open a food processing plant in Troy, Ohio.

After five years, the two brothers decided to retire and sell the whole company to Hershey Foods Corporation. It only took 9 years until another man in the name of Donald N. Smith purchased Friendly. It now became part of Tennessee Foods and Smith added up the apostrophe-s in the name of the restaurant.
Friendly’s opened to be an ice cream shop and now it has fully grown to be a restaurant. It serves people with lunch, dinner, ice cream choices. Breakfast, and children’s menu. Their ice cream choices include Friend-z which is a homemade ice cream topped with different nuts, the traditional Sundaes, and their Fribble milkshake. Matter-of-factly, Friendly’s was awarded by the Guinness Book of World Records as the World’s Largest Dessert Party. This event happened in their headquarters at Wilbraham, Massachusetts.
