1. Theme -The first thing you should consider is the type of food you plan to serve in your restaurant. The “look” of your menu depends on this. Are you opening up an all-American, diner-type restaurant? Then you the type of paper and binding you would need for your menu shouldn’t be too fancy.

2. Categorize. – Separate your food and drinks into categories: appetizers/starters, soups, salads, entrées/main courses, beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), dessert. Having a well-thought out menu will help your customers have a hassle-free and enjoyable dining experience.

3. Describe. – Consider writing short descriptions under each and every dish on your menu. This will inform your guests of exactly what they’re ordering. You can even opt to specify the main ingredients used in the recipe.

4. The Name Game. – Finally, give each dish and beverage a creative and gastronomically-alluring name. Surely, “Grandma’s Homemade Hash” sounds infinitely better and more interesting than just plain “Hash.” Be imaginative. If your restaurant is French or Spanish, for example, you can have dishes named after popular French or Spanish songs, poetry or movies. You can also name dishes after the people who created or inspired them.

Now, you’ve seen how simple it really is to create a restaurant menu of your own. All you need is some originality and imagination. Hopefully, these tips help you launch into a successful career in the food industry. Good luck!
